Description

Olives are delicious and nutritious! So with the help of Erick, our AR host AR learn to make the most amazing recipes using this yummy ingredient!

Augmented Reality project to be used in points of sale (supermarkets). The user could select simple AR or a Mixed Reality Experience.

There were two different versions with different sets of recipes. Traditional recipes and lentil recipes (no meat) for April.  Therefore, from the start, the architecture was designed to be able to easily add more recipes when needed.

My involvement in the project

Programming, Design and Project Management.

Ideation and Design. By listening to the time, budget and objective requirements of the client I came with the process  and organization to structure this project in a way that would be cost effective and would still deliver an interesting BTL experience. (Below-The-Line marketing)

Project Management of a small team including 3D Artists, an Animator, a Sound Designer, a Voice Actor, and a Chef

Modular:

I made sure that from the start the architecture of this project was modular and easy to maintain. This to be able to add new recipes to the app with minimal asset creation.

Character Management:

To manage the actions of the virtual host and fit into budget, instead of having a full recipe sequence done by the Animator, we opted to have some basic sets of animations.

These animations such as walking, waiting, and certain interactions were activated using State Machines, Avatar Masking (top body/lower body) and Animation events.

Animation:

Although the character animations were done externally and then implemented in Unity I did the animation of the rest of the props, ingredients, UI elements inside Unity.

These were done using the engine animation tools and activated through events. This was done to simplify external contractor work and fit into the cost requirements of the client.
